Install SATA network adapter mod and SATA HDD.

(Though HDLDump Helper GUI may work on Linux.) Many popular tools like HDLDump Helper GUI don't work correctly via WINE on Mac.

We are limited to tools that work on Mac natively or via WINE.

(You could also do everything in this guide with an unmodified network adapter and an IDE hard drive, but I wouldn't recommend it.) This is why I suggest modding an official network adapter to accept SATA drives. This means we NEED BOTH a working Ethernet port AND and a working hard drive in our PS2 at the same time.

Because we won't be able to copy games over USB/SATA we'll need a good way to copy them to the PS2 over Ethernet.

This rules out some popular tools like WinHIIP.

There is no way I've been able to find to read/write to a PS2 formatted HDD over USB/SATA on a Mac.

Where Windows software is unavoidable, I only use Windows software that runs simply and easily via WINE. This guide never require booting into Windows or having access to a Windows PC.End result is a soft-modded PS2 and the ability to load ISOs onto it via a Mac or Linux PC.I'm focusing on Mac but the steps should be basically the same for Linux.
